Work out what a shot list actually costs to generate. A generator produces clips of a fixed maximum length, so a shot longer than the cap is not one call - a twelve-second shot is three, with two seams, and neither number appears anywhere in a shot list. Six shots at 8, 6, 18, 10, 9 and 3 seconds are six calls on a twenty-second generator and thirteen calls with seven seams on a five-second one; the film did not change and nothing in the plan is wrong. This decomposes every shot against the profile you actually have, balances the splits so no call ends on a stub too short to hold and too long to hide, counts the seams - each one a join between two independent generations - checks ratios, modes, resolutions and audio against what the generator can do, and separates billed seconds from delivered ones, because a three-second logo under a four-second minimum call bills four. It refuses to invent two things: the generator profile, which is a dated snapshot you can override field by field, and the retry rate, which makes the call count a floor rather than an estimate until you supply your own.
