Works out how big type actually looks. How big a caption looks on screen is an ANGLE - the cap height as a fraction of picture height, divided by the viewing distance measured in picture heights - and both halves are ratios, so the display's physical size and the master's resolution cancel out entirely. Measured that way a phone at arm's length is 7.9 picture heights and the back row of a cinema is 3.3: the phone is the farthest screen you own, and it is where most of the audience is. And a cap height in pixels is not a size at all - 43 px is 4% of a 1080-line master and 2% of a 2160-line one. Five lanes over one type size and its screens, plus a free browser-side engine.
