One Black Cell - grow a tiny universe from eight small laws
A one-row universe to play with. Free in the browser: pick a rule from 0 to 255, take it from a birthday or flip any of the eight neighbour laws by hand, start from one black cell or a name spelled in five-bit letters, and see 64 rows sewn into a patchwork quilt with the page's estimate of the behaviour (fades, repeats, nests, churns or lives on the edge), density, spread, the widest gap, the centre column, twin rules and all eight one-law flips; exports Markdown, CSV, JSON and SVG. One metered task reads your wish as a target behaviour, gives a verdict by a fixed rule (already there, one flip away, no single flip), names the law to flip and writes a short field guide with things to look for; the page re-checks every reply. Built on @anthropics/algorithmic-art.
